TEAM: GISELLE PERRY // SARAH BAGHAI

LOCATION: STATE COLLEGE, PA

The Refarm Cafe project is located on JL Farms on a large amount of property that was utilized to include a cafe, greenhouses, an education center and an open-air market. The main goal in designing the project was to maintain the surrounding area that was useful and neccessary for the farmers. The biggest success of the project was creating a campus-like setting that used little area on the site and made every program easily accessible. The cafe became a focal point in the project and was located on a sloped part of the site which could not otherwise be used for farming. The cafe slopes with the land to create a close environment. The programs follow suit in sloping down with the site in order to lessen the impact of the constructions on the land. The final intention of the project was to give back to the farm what would be taken away.
